Up to the beginning of the 90's, the countries in Central Asia formed a part of the former Soviet Union. The main language was Russian and to adhering to a religious faith was discouraged. After the fall of communism, the population started to try and find its own identity and the people showed a renewed interest in religion.
Islam is growing very fast in the region. The small number of Christians are looking for new and creative ways to spread the biblical message. Using topical homemade programs, based around their own culture and in their own language, television is an excellent means for spreading the Gospel.
They prefer to broadcast on the national television, but regional and local channels also offer plenty of opportunities. We want to produce a series of broadcasts in cooperation with the partner organization Silk Road Communications Central Asia.
