'Nouvelle Generation'
Fifty percent of the population of West Africa is under the age of 20. Many of these young people have few means and life under miserable circumstances. However, they do watch television and visit Internet cafes. There they face total different life styles in the city and in the Western world. That becomes also their dream en many of them go to the city to realize it. The dream seems not to come true and for most of them this means that they escape in drugs use, drugs dealing or prostitution. A dream becomes a nightmare.
In the new weekly television program for the youth, called 'Nouvelle Génération' (New Generation), ACT wants to reach them with the Gospel.
In the program young people are put on the stage who took another road. By faith, trust and persistence they build up a living. Sometimes by learn a trade, sometimes by setting up a small business. “New Generation” is a compilation of a 10-12 minutes reportage, 2-3 minutes of street interviews and 10 minutes talk show. Guests tell about how their faith in God gives them courage and helps to persist. The audience can ask questions.
'Miel Mortel'
In the program 'Miel Mortel ' (Deadly Honey), attention is paid to the problems on HIV/AIDS in Africa. The programs provide information from biblical standards and values about friendship and sexuality. Young people will be awaken to the existence and dangers of HIV. The producers want to motivate young people to be loyal in their marriage and encourage them to deal in a positive way with their infected fellow men.
The programs are aimed at younger people between 12 and 25 years old, because they are most hit by HIV in Ivory Coast and the neighbouring countries. Within this group special attention will be paid to the position of the girls. They are pressed by contemporaries to be sexually active and factors as poverty and culture also play a role.
12 programs are made annually.
