Follow-up workers West-Africa. Search for cooperation with churches

How can we help the large number of people in West-Africa who have contacted the follow-up for help? That is the question which many follow-up workers ask themselves. We are very thankful that we were able to inform you already a few weeks ago that there were so many responses. While making an overview of 2011, we observed that there have been more than 200,000 responses to the Christian television programs. Not every response demands a reply, but a large part of them do. This stream of reactions makes a heavy demand on the time of the follow-up workers.

How can a follow-up worker handle this large amount of questions and how can he give the right answer to each question? These are crucial questions which do not have a ready-made solution. Our partner is working on calling together all of the follow-up workers from the 10 countries in which we broadcast , to talk about this important work.

Encouragement and training

The aim of the conference is to encourage and train the follow-up workers. It is also the intention to discuss the view on follow-up in the West-African culture with them. At this moment few churches and congregations are involved in helping with the follow-up. An important question will be how the current follow-up workers can succeed in motivating the local churches and congregations to assist them.

It is very important that the local churches are informed in the right way. If they take over in this, the effectiveness of the follow-up will improve greatly, for it will lessen the great responsibility which the follow-up workers now have due to the large amount of questions. Another point of interest is to make a careful selection of new follow-up workers and to train them, together with those who have a leading position in the churches.
